Review finds little evidence for Complementary and Alternative Medicines in diabetes

This broad-based review set out to summarise the findings of other systematic reviews on complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAMs) for the treatment of diabetes. Twelve systematic reviews were found that evaluated a broad range of CAMs, including herbal medicine, qi gong, tai chi, massage and yoga. Absence of evidence on whether exercise can prevent gestational diabetes

Research has shown that light to moderate exercise during pregnancy is beneficial for mother and baby alike.  It has also been shown to prevent type 2 diabetes in men and non-pregnant women.  This Cochrane review looked at whether it can prevent diabetes in pregnant women.
